Healting States

There are many different brain wave states and using them for different purposes can greatly accelerate both healing and growth. What people call hypnosis is really a way to use a wide range of altered states where parts of the brain vibrate at different frequencies. How much and which part of the brain vibrates at which frequency affects a persons experience. As the two sides of the brain go into matching frequencies in either Alpha and Theta states it is easier for them to communicate. This can create accelerated learning as well as accelerated healing depending on the intention and how it is done. As this happen and the brain portions sync it is easier to work with the sub-conscious mind.  In altered states the conscious mind can more easily look into the sub-conscious mind. The sub-conscious mind is like a hologram program which greatly influences experience by the way it works to manifest beliefs which are held as true. What you believe is true, even if you are not longer conscious of that belief, has a big effect on how you experience your daily reality. Of course people often have opposite beliefs and so swing back and forth in various areas, an example could be believing in themselves alternating with doubting themselves in some area.

Generally in normal waking consciousness most of the brain vibrates at 14-30 Hz and that is felt like an alert consciousness where the main focus is mostly in the logical part of the brain.

Alpha brain waves begin at a frequency of 8-13 Hz. As you go into alpha brain waves you become more relaxed and open into a more creative or daydreaming type of state. It usually feels comfortable and the muscles in the body release tension. In hypnosis this is considered a light trance. It is easier to connect with and look into the sub-conscious mind and also is a good state for visualizing and healing. The sub-conscious mind is available to the conscious mind; it just takes willingness, and practice to look into it.  It is also very helpful to be a neutral observer as you look.

Theta is more profound state.  The parts of the brain in theta vibrate at 4-7 Hz. This is often where the deepest healing occurs. As more of the brain goes into the Theta frequencies there can be a big opening of awareness into both the sub-conscious mind and also as in meditation, into a higher awareness, or super-conscious mind as that awareness opens. There are different parts of the brain that affect various states of mind. The logical part is more towards the frontal lobe and the intuitive part in more in the middle of the head. Now scientists have discovered a way to show what part of the brain is related to different functions, experiences and what part of the mind is being activated in the moment. They have also shown that advanced meditators have developed brain frequencies and functions that non-meditators do not have.

With inner investigations into your beliefs, thoughts and feelings you can do much more than just understand how you developed an internal landscape and the beliefs and programs they hold. First you can begin to understand the power of your thoughts and how they generate emotional experiences. As you do this you connect the dots and see the effects these beliefs and emotional reactions have brought into you life and bring currently. This does take courage but it is liberating and worth it because if you do this work with the intention to free yourself from patterns that limit you, you are giving yourself a great gift. As you identify the strategies you developed and still use, strategies and beliefs which do not create joy or happiness, but keep you locked into past pain, you learn to see which ones no longer serve you, but are still running (keeping you in unhappy relationships, jobs or physical distress). As you observe them you can begin dismantling them and release the mental and emotional charge of energy that was stored when you made them. (Thoughts and beliefs have an electro magnetic charge which affects the body.) Along with this you can create new understandings and beliefs which bring you joy, health and fulfillment.

To do this it is helpful to be in deep healing states where different aspects of yourself communicate more easily with one another and the body also receives deep rest and great healing.  Deep healing states are natural states of awareness that people sometimes spontaneously use and access. If you practice using them you will get better at it and it becomes easier to understand and work with many facets of your consciousness. It is also possible use both daydreaming and night dreaming productively in a variety of ways.

In meditative states you learn to connect with Divine Self awareness, which I generally also call the Inner Self or the Higher Self. The name doesn’t matter as much as the connection. As you grow in the awareness and ability to connect to this part of you, where love and peace reside, you can see through time with a different perspective and free yourself from beliefs and even physical situations and conditions as you outgrow the needs and belief programming that created them.  The difference between meditation and hypnosis is basically intention. Meditation is to connect with the higher self and hypnosis has been mostly used to work with the subconscious mind to alter and heal negative programming and beliefs, and to work with pain and the nervous system. (That is why it can be useful with addictions, because addictions are used to suppress feelings and the beliefs that underlie those emotions and in conjunction it can help to strengthen positive beliefs desires and choices).  The more the subconscious mind is cleared the easier it becomes to stay in connection with the higher Self.

Much of psychology is helpful, but there are many beliefs in the psychological community that are not empowering, and deny the inner wisdom available for healing.

Often the attitude of psychiatrists, who undergo medical training, put most their energy and belief into the diagnosis and the use  of pharmaceutical drugs instead of empowering people to understand and recognize how beliefs, thought patterns and stored emotional energy) created in times of fear or suffering are synthesized into patterns that create symptoms. Psychological understanding is very helpful, but in the psychiatry and psychology fields there is a lot of energy and time spent labeling symptoms and giving a diagnosis which can actually have an adverse affect on healing. I’ve seen many people when told they had a certain diagnosis fall down a trap door of believing the diagnosis and “disease label” was more real than their power to find the underlying cause and change it, healing the symptoms that were being generated generating. Sometimes the name of psychological disease can be helpful, but it also can be a negative factor in healing because it gives power to the belief that a person has a disease that is holding them hostage instead of empowering them to heal and investigate and find the route─not just to symptom removal—to real the cure. If the symptom is removed but the cause not dealt with, a symptom will eventually pop up in another area.
